Introducing HLM Architects in Cardiff

Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School – Award Winning Design from HLM Architects Cardiff

Who are HLM Architects and what do they provide?

HLM Architects, which are based in the centre of Cardiff, provide architectural expertise across Wales. They are part of the HLM group, which consists of ‘one team’ throughout nine locations across the world.

HLM Architects look at preserving the heritage and physical features of the property that they come to design, whether it’s a refurbished or brand new building. Listening to their customer’s needs and requirements are the number one priority, closely followed by design and considering the environment. They also try to create a design, which will not only excite their clients and the general public, but also stand the test of time physically and aesthetically.

HLM Architects design for many organisations and businesses within the health, education, defence, justice/custodial, office/civic and residential markets.

In 2012, HLM Architects were awarded with the Gold Medal for Architecture, for their design of the £20 million Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School, which is located in Bridgend, Wales.

The school, which houses 750 pupils, was designed and built to fit in with the local landscape. The school features state of the art sports facilities, which are not only available to the pupils, but also to the local community to use on evenings and weekends.

The building itself is a three-storey atrium, with the main focal point being the white concrete staircase, which links all floors. Created with aesthetic traditions, culture of the region, durability and low maintenance in mind.

The Gold Medal was awarded to them at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.

HLM Architects have also been shortlist for this year’s National Business Awards, where they’ll be up against the likes of Tube Lines and Mark & Spencer for the prestigious award.

HLM Architects Cardiff are located at 2nd Floor, Greyfriars House, Greyfriars Road, Cardiff, CF10 3AL and at http://www.hlmarchitects.com/contact/cardiff
